We love Big House. It's the kind of locally owned and operated place every town wishes they had. Breakfasts are our favorite. The menu has a great selection, the food is great, the quantities are huge, the service is wonderful, and the prices are reasonable. Lunch and dinner are also a great experience.

Always really good, consistent food. Plus, if you come here often enough, it like cheers, everyone knows your name and what your "usual" is. The parking out front is often very full, so try to park by the chamber of commerce or the Social security office.

Okay, after visiting the Big House more than a dozen times I am ready for a review. I like it! It's probably the best sit down breakfast in Casa Grande and it's a great place to bring some out of town friends to show than how darn cool this little town can be. The service staff seems to be getting better and better as time rolls on. The first few experiences eating here were, well, frustrating. It's really hard to enjoy your food without silverware and as you watch the food getting cold on your plate after having dispatched several staff members to rustle up a fork which takes MUCH longer than it should, you may lose your appetite altogether. Our last two visits were the best. The service was noticeably better, more attentive, made sure we were happy, all easy stuff. The last time we left agreeing that it was the best experience we had there so far, which is good because there are limited options here in Casa Grande so we've given this business a lot of chances to get it right. The food is totally great. I am looking forward to future visits so I can try some new things on the menu. So far we have only ventured into the breakfast pages but the salads and tacos look awesome and I am excited to try them. As long as the service keeps getting better I am happy to highly recommend the Big House. Based on other recent reviews however it could be that the service is still spotty and we've gotten lucky the last couple of times. I agree with another reviewer on the experience of being ignored. My almost breaking point? Well, it was the time (actually there was more than one time) we had waited, I kid you not, over 20 minutes for the check after our food had been cleared, only to have it never arrive. I decided to go up to the counter to either request the check or simply pay for our meal since we had to go. I approached the counter where one is greeted with a large sign that says something like, "please wait for your check at the table, your server will bring it...etc.." I hate these kinds of things. It causes the people behind the counter to feel that ignoring you is rational or justified and it makes me feel like an ass for disobeying the sign. It sucks. I would recommend getting rid of the sign and making sure to bring those checks out to the tables. I did eventually get the check and paid it at the counter after standing there looking stupid for a few minutes, staring at the people behind the register... Maybe this review is a little more "ranty" than a 4 star review should be. I am hopeful that we can continue to have good experiences here. The first few honestly were pretty terrible as far as the service goes, but we persisted mainly because there are not a lot of other options to eat around here, and I am happy we did. I also figured that we were not the only people who had experienced inattentive service and that things would improve. I am going to think I might be right and hopefully the people who work at the Big House continue to strive to take pride in their jobs and offer awesome service.....I promise it WILL lead to bigger tips!

I am in love with this place. It's a small place but it's cozy and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious. Large portions and lots of options. I have found my new favorite breakfast spot and can't wait to try something else!!!

Just visiting and was surprised when my first choice was not open for lunch. This place is a rare gem in Casa Grande. The food and service were great. It is a small comfortably location, almost hole in the wall, but like a well done small diner. Serving sizes were good and the staff were great. You will be impressed by the variety of the options. I was worried they did not have a specialty, but it all turned out great.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Big House. No meal is a disappointment. Best breakfasts in town. The menu offers not only great breakfast choices but lots of yummy lunch and dinner entrees. Unfortunately the winter visitors have found this place and in the season there sometimes is a long wait; but worth every minute of it!

Came here to have brunch with some close friends. Service: 1. The wait staff were attentive ambiance: 1. Ordinary 2. Locating the outdoor patio was slightly confusing Food: 1. Amazing. Definitely recommend the tuthill potato breakfast Recommendation: Definitely a place to try out but expect on some waiting around time

I've eaten here twice today! I'm camping at skydive Arizona and the good food choices in eloy are bleak. Was pleasantly surprised that a mere 19 minute drive would take me to a place with such fabulous food with good (but a tad slow) service. The Machaca breakfast with home fries, green chile, eggs and a warm soft tortilla were out of this world! Dinner, later, was also great. I got the green something burger (I forget the name, but it has green chile) and it was delicious and huge! Fries were also good. I will definitely come here again. The waitstaff is at times a little awkward, but whatever.

Visited family in Casa Grande and stopped here for lunch. Absolutely a great experience. The food was fresh and delicious. Service great! I had the Florentine omelette with roasted red peppers and choose the biscuit. It was loaded with fresh vegetables spinach, mushrooms, red onions and red peppers all grilled and them put into the omelette the biscuit was light and flaky. It comes with roasted Potatoes which has the perfect crunchiness. My husband loved his green giant hamburger which was huge. My in-laws lived their choices too. They have a huge menu, love story of options with great prices. 4 great breakfasts for $35.00. Can't be beat especially coming from the valley. Before leaving we purchased some bakery items. We bought a large brownie and 4 chocolate chip cookies. The brownie was soft and gooey with walnuts and chocolate chips, drizzled with fudge and the chocolate chip cookies were just fabulous so with just the right amount of crunch and lots of chocolate chips.

I don't have enough good things to say about Big House Cafe. The BEST breakfast I think I've ever eaten. This southerner was extremely pleased with the "country" breakfast plate. Biscuits and gravy, eggs, potatoes, and bacon. Coming from North Carolina, I am not easy to please when it comes to biscuits. Big House Cafe has met and exceeded all expectations with this plate. My husband had the Casa Grande. Eggs over a cheese enchilada, potatoes, and beans. He was also extremely pleased with this plate. We ordered French toast bites as an appetizer. Wow....just wow! Like many others have said, the service was a little slow, but we were offered chips and salsa to hold us over until our food came out. Its a small establishment that was really busy today. We understood and took the time to enjoy the beautiful patio. We will definitely be returning!

Today I tried one of their spinach or Florentine omelettes it was okay they could've added more spinach, it was served with to crispy of potatoes which were a little overdone and two slices of toast. As this is more or less a healthier food choice, I felt like it would've been better served with fresh fruit. Service was very good they were very attentive it just took quite a while to get my meal though I think I set there for at least 20 minutes. They have added an outdoor patio that's covered it's pleasant to sit in and it's one of the few food establishments we have in Casa Grande as we are quite limited when it comes to good restaurants here. I had them cater for me one year the catering was excellent the food was just extraordinary the time they catered a private party I held. I had a Hawaiian theme and I must say I had so many compliments from everyone who attended.

This restaurant is Casa Grande's best, the burgers and breakfast are both amazing. They have the BEST chicken fried steak I have ever eaten in my life, the staff is super friendly and welcoming, I always love to eat at Big House!

Stopped by for lunch with my family for the first time. Very quaint cafe with sincere and genuinely friendly staff. They were very accommodating to a couple special dietary requests and even helped make some menu suggestions. The food was absolutely outstanding. Very generous portions, and full of flavor! We will certainly be back.

It seems this will be our official breakfast stop when on the road. We stopped here last Saturday morning, I went again for pozole (green this time), daughter had quesadilla, hubby had breakfast chimi with chorizo. Luckily we didn't have to wait long, like 5 minutes or so. Service was good and the food was too.

Portions are very large! The food is delicious, lots of options, great service and the prices aren't bad. The restaurant is small but has a cozy feel and also has an outdoor shaded patio. I love the amount of options, quality of food, and the great service. This is all around a great restaurant.

Have been here 3 times now and have had three different things. All very good. French toast was different but perfect. The grilled brisket sandwich was amazing and the burger was huge and pretty good also. Only downsides are the place is tiny and food does take quite a while to come out. But has always been worth it. Great menu, great execution of food. Can't wait to go back.

We brought my 94 1/2 year old mother and she said they had the best grilled cheese she has ever had! My vegetarian husband was delighted with the choices he had. Service is also great. Portions are large and food is fantastic. Can't wait to come again.

This is a diner-style restaurant with reasonable prices. All the food including the salad dressings were homemade. The menu is extensive with a huge variety of foods. Everything we ate was very good (especially the chicken taquitos). The service was fine, although the server did get our ordered slightly mixed up. It took a while to get the food but understandable since everything was fresh and handmade. We will go back if we are in Casa Grande again.

Had a wonderful cheese omelet with bacon in it as well. It was huge!! Fluffy and full of cheese and big bacon strips. Yum. The potatoes on the side were delicious. The place was packed and I had to wait about 5 minutes. It seemed like the staff was a bit confused as to who should greet and seat the customers. No one wanted to make eye contact with me it seemed. But when they did they were so sweet. It am sure it's hard to handle the main ( tiny) dining room and the back patio at the same time. Older people were just wandering in past the please wait sign and one couple even seated themselves anyway. It was kind of chaotic for the staff. This was at 9:00 am prime time on a weekday. I got great service and a great meal and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I live this place!

Love this place. Food is very good with very generous portions. Their biscuits and gravy are the best in town. You usually have a little wait to get a table but it is worth it. The wait staff is very friendly. My boyfriend loves their breakfast burritos.

Other reviewers have called Big House Café a "hidden gem." I can't think of a better description. Normally, my wife and I go there for breakfast, which is served until 2 p.m. Any of their breakfast items, including the omelets we usually order, are delicious and served in large quantities. The only problem is that the restaurant is far too small for the business it generates. In the morning and around the noon hour, the line is usually out the door. If you're lucky enough to get inside, you must stand awkwardly in the aisles. Today, I was in downtown Casa Grande for another reason and had some time to kill, so I stopped in around 3 p.m. for a late lunch. I was too late for breakfast, but it turned out to be a great time of day to eat at Big House. There were only a few other parties in the restaurant. The service was friendly and instant. And as always, the food was wonderful. I am a vegetarian, so my choices at first appeared to be limited. But the server said they could make any of their wraps without meat. They already had a veggie wrap on the menu, so I ordered it. It was a great choice. The wrap was huge and included spinach, mushrooms, cucumbers, and a combination of spices that I wasn't able to identify but that really made it. I ordered mixed fruit on the side. Everything was fresh. That plus a soda set me back only around ten dollars, including the tip. I only wish I had the time and room in my stomach for a piece of one of their signature pies. Next time. Frankly, you don't expect a café this good in Casa Grande. I don't know whether it would be worth a trip from the Phoenix metro or Tucson just to eat here because there are so many alternatives. But if you're driving through Pinal County on I-10 and get hungry, it's definitely worth a side trip. For only slightly more than you would pay at one of the fast-food joints just off the highway, you get so much more.

"Flavorful Hardy Food & Not too Spendie" Very Hardy, perfectly cooked, and wonderfully seasoned food. The portions were big and the prices ranged from $7-10 a plate. The service was fast and staff was polite. I went there for breakfast and 5min after we sat down a line of 15 people built up outside the door waiting for seating. I guess my only criticism would be that it's a tad small. Better get there early or at an irregular mealtime to ensure getting a table.

Okay the reviews don't lie, large menu and delicious food. I ordered Big Boy and wasn't disappointed, my wife ordered the egg over enchilada and beans plus the green pozole, father in law had pancakes. My only regret is that I live in CA too far away from here. If you are in Casa Grande, this place is a must stop and eat

Unique atmosphere. Great service. Waited a little long for food but well worth the wait. Pulled pork tacos and beans were delicious. Friend had the Baja wrap that was generous portion and delicious as well. Reasonable prices.

I have heard nothing but great reviews about this place and was more than excited to finally give it a try. It's unfortunate that i am giving it two stars just for the food. The service was the absolute service I have ever experienced in any restaurant. I understand that Sunday morning is busy for any restaurant, but that shouldn't be an excuse to give such poor service. IHOP is just as busy and could have given ten times greater service. I ordered CG ruins, but asked for some changes on my meal. Our waiter who did not even introduce himself got the rest of our table's order down. We had waited so long that the surrounding tables got served before we did and left even though they got seated much longer after we got our order in and had the same party size. By the time our food got to the table, my order was completely wrong except for the French toast. I had let another waitress know and she took my order back to see what can be done. ANOTHER waitress came out with the same exact plate. She wanted to try charging us for the things I had originally asked for on top of the meal despite getting it wrong. Another order at our table had not come yet and so we reminded them. They even got that order wrong - a simple pancakes and bacon and they failed to serve that correctly. I was told one of the things I ordered as a side could not be served a la carte, yet it is an option on the "sides". Our waiter did not once to our table to check on us despite passing our table many times as our table was in the middle of the room or the numerous times we've tried calling for other waiters for help. I would love to say that i cannot wait to go back, but after the impeccably RUDE service, I'm not so sure. If the service was just as good or mediocre as any other restaurant, I wouldn't mind giving it the five stars it could have deserved. Truly disappointed of my first visit here.

I always eat here with friends after we get off the night shift. They are generous with the food and taste is always excellent. Most of the time we're seated in the front and occasionally in the back patio. The servers are really nice and know the menu well because they have a lot of items to choose from. I will try to order something new when I visit and I have not been disappointed with any of the entrees. But I love their "big ugly" when I can't decide.

I went on a random adventure with some friends and we found ourselves at this restaurant. I saw that they had "all you can eat" fish for like $13, and laughed thinking "no way. It has to be horrible." It was DELICIOUS. The entire experience was great, the wait staff were excellent. If I ever find myself back in Casa Grande again, I will be sure to eat here.

Amazing breakfast!! my wife had the Albuquerque and I had corned beef, green chile and onions with fried eggs on top. Very busy at 11am, but even with a 30 min wait, the food and service made it a great experience....

This is by far one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten. Every time I come here I order something different and I've had yet to be disappointed. Their Reuben is amazing, so is their brisket melt. We stop by here every time we go to Tucson. Highly recommended and worth the detour.

I have to admit, the food was good everytime I come in with my parents. We have been there since the beginning and havr also enjoyed their sister restaurant Red's. It was so good that I had decided to use them (made by Red's) for catering for my wedding after bringing the in laws from out of town. This was 3 months ago!! My mother had been tried several times to contact and schedule catering services. Nothing. I then contacted Red Estilo via Facebook to help me contact them. Apparently, Red's makes the food BUT, it is ordered through Big House Catering. I have repeatedly tried to contact catering and my mother has gone down there to leave messages with staff to contact her. My thinking: If it takes THIS long to get a reply, what would happen at the scheduled time for them to arrive at the wedding? Would they even show up?! Management either needs to address this, doesn't care or is too busy to notice. It shouldn't take THREE months for someone to contact me and let me spend my money there. I'M DONE. Ricardo's it is.

We thought that we would give this place another try. We have eaten here for lunch and really weren't all that impressed so we thought that we would give it another try for breakfast. The menu selection is good and they have about everything you could want. I had the Big House Breakfast and my wife had the Country Breakfast. The eggs and potatoes were good. The pancakes were ok, nothing to get excited about. The single sausage patty was very overdone and dry, almost burnt. Her breakfast was ok except the sausage gravy. It seemed sweet and was lacking any sign of sausage. I really don't think we will go back for any kind of meal. Breakfast for two was around $22. I thought that was a little steep but oh well.

I discovered the Jake burrito with brisket added is the best $13 burrito I've ever had. Yesterday I had the Carolina Crush, a 10 oz patty stacked with pulled pork and freshly chopped cole slaw. With the seasoned fries, it was amazing! Once again, my expectation were exceeded.

Nothing spectacular, but still a good meal when we needed one. This unpretentious place, with a pleasant if not particularly skilled serving staff, provided us with a decent cup of pozole, a good, modestly sized side of fruit salad, and a pretty darn good jalapeno tuna melt (without the jalapenos). Not worth a special trip. But if you're passing through, as we were, you'll get a wholesome lunch for a reasonable price.

Anyone who rates this place less than four stars either has no soul or no taste buds, or should keep their tattooed eyebrows in Maricopa at the Harrah's buffet (I am looking at you Kimmy W). One word: bar-b-Cuban.

we were in town visiting family; had a 75th birthday lunch with 16 people. The wait staff was outstanding and the food was absolutely the best we've had in casa grande. the burgers are HUGE and the mexican plates are to die for. It was so good we went back on sunday for breakfast! the green chili chicken enchilada breakfast was phenomenal and the chorizo breakfast could not have been better. We no longer have to drive to phoenix for a good meal. This place is definitely on our list of must eat it when we are in town. the price is right and the food is extremely wonderful

I probably ate the best salad I have ever eaten in my life,at the big house café. Last Friday my wife and I were on our way to Tucson and we discovered the big house café on yelp. I had the southwest chicken salad and it was incredible they takeA green chili batter it deep-fried and put it on the top of your salad and believe me that is the only thing that is a little bit fattening the rest of it is greatQuality vegetables it had roasted corn it had pico de gallo and the chicken was moist tender and very tasty I would say yes go to the big house café. In fact, we decided toarrange our trip so we could eat at the big house café on Sunday when we came back through, the food was equally as good that time.

Had a reason to visit Casa Grande so yelped breakfast places this morning. So happy we found this lil gem. It was clearly the hometown spot. Place was packed at 8am. Coffee was hot and food was quick and yummy. Prices were very reasonable. Only thing I'd change was salsa. I think it was Tapatio in a squeeze bottle. Fresh salsa is too easy not to make. It would have made this a 5 star for sure.

This review is soley based on the quality of service. My group of 7 went on a sunday morning to this cafe after being seated we waited 20 minutes just to get our drinks ordered and another 50 plus minutes to not get ourfood. After over an hour of waiting we just left without getting our food. I asked the server for the cost of the drinks because we decided to leave and he said our food ticket was next after 3 tickets. To make matters worse the coffee was bad and it was luke warm. Dont waste your time and hard earned cash in a place that does not value your patronage.

  • Neil D.

This place would get a better review if the service was better. Te food was good. I've been here a few times before it was really really slow but the portions were huge. Prices kinda high but ok cause you got full. Now they changed portions and it takes just as long an it cost just as much for a 1/3 of what you got. The waitress we're ride but so unorganized we waited for drinks for almost 15 min. People enjoy the food if you have a 2 hour time slot to kill whether if Busy or not! I've wasted enough time here won't waste anymore

Felt like a totally different place than the other reviewers went to. I was bracing for a truck-stop-style greasy spoon full of surly waitstaff, mediocre food and homeless people. I walked into a freshly refurbished dining room tended lovingly by an energetic staff with genuine smiles on their young faces. There was a 20-min wait for a table, but we were handed free coffee for the interim. The wait for food was unremarkable. I had the chilaquiles, and they were killer. Perhaps there has been a big change in management since the earlier reviews. In any case: green light. They fixed it.

My wife and two sons went here last Sunday because of the good reviews on Yelp. There was a line outside so we put our name in and were told it would be 20 minutes. This was at 9:30. We were seated at 10:15. We had plans to go to a spring training game in Scottsdale and planned to leave for the game at 11:15 so we thought we were fine. We didn't get our food until almost 11:30 and by that time we were so hungry and in a hurry that we just gobbled down the food so I wouldn't be able to say whether the food was any good or not. They need to be up front about the time it takes to get served if it's busy. By the time we got out of there I was completely stressed out so don't go there on a busy day if you have any time constraints

  • Jimmy J.

My husband and I had a hard time choosing what to order because everything sounded yummy. So we decided to try a lot of different things - pozole, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, brisket hash, and the tamale breakfast plate. It was all delicious! I love that you can get both American and Mexican breakfast. It's worth the drive off the I-10. Friendly service and decently priced too.

Big house cafe has become a favorite in Casa Grande so I had to try it. If you don't try the French toast bites you are missing out! The food is good and the portions are huge. The only thing I didn't like was the wait staff. They weren't attentive so I was asking multiple times for napkins or ketchup. I've never been to BHC without waiting for a table. It seems as though cleaning the table tops and getting people seated is not a priority. Even when there are completely cleaned empty tables you still won't be seated right away. Besides the wait the food is good! Definitely a must try.

Best place in Casa Grande for Breakfast or Lunch. Menu selection is great. Serving portions are large. Can get really busy on weekends especially during the winter season but wait is worth it. Located in downtown Casa Grande, go there if you want a great meal from a friendly staff.

I'm not a big fan of breakfast, but this place could convert me. There was a lot of variety. Reasonably priced, good service, and clean. The food was really good and the portions were sizeable. Everyone in our group (with and without doggy bags) was happy.

Good service, clean place, interesting menu with possibilities for a repeat visit. My husband and I passed through here for breakfast one morning, desperate for something good to eat. We were glad we didn't stop at a fast-food place or grab crap from Circle K. We were there about 10 AM on a Friday morning and the place was fairly busy - most tables occupied in a small space - about 15 tables in the front. We were waited upon right away. We seated ourselves according to the sign in the front. Some tables were unoccupied and dirty while we sat; we wanted another table but they don't seem to have enough waitstaff to bus all dirty tables right away. Coffee was plain and not great, but good enough. They take breakfast seriously, said my husband, who ordered steak and eggs, the "Big Boy". I had 'The Albuquerque" - eggs over easy with tortillas and green chile. I regret not trying "green chile pancakes" (?? - where can you get those elsewhere?) and I regret that they didn't serve the interesting lunch selections early, but our food was decent, fresh, hot and service was friendly and prompt. The table check happened at the right time (the waitress was hovering to refill my coffee) and we had a last check before we paid. This is good standard service. The food was decent - nothing spectacular, but clearly made to order and cooked properly. They also did not use a lot of "grill release", standard for a lot of cafes that serve breakfast, which tends to really grease up the food, which I appreciated. I think maybe they're paying some attention to the service issues, but reading the other reviews, maybe it's a random lucky visit for us. The waitresses were young, pierced, bleached. Two seemed to be trying and the other didn't seem to really care much. Waitress work is hard.

It's a ways off the freeway to stop regularly, but we were glad we did. The prices are very reasonable and the portions large for lunch. I had the chicken caesar salad. The strips of chicken were nicely grilled and very thick. Chopped eggs and tomatoes added to the dish. Husband ordered the chicken bruchetta and talked about the blended flavors for hours afterwards. (He is so not a foodie)

Being new to CG I've been working my way around to the local spots for breakfast and lunch. Big House knows what to do in the kitchen for sure! Great sandwiches and breakfasts. Small, local, & yummy. Jalapeño Melt is my fave but the Greek salad is a close second. And the eggs, home fried potatoes, and green chili breakfast wasnt too bad either! ps- a large ice tea to go is 44oz. Hope you're thirsty! Oh, and be prepared to wait 40-50 mins for your order. Not sure if they only have one cook, or maybe just one stove top, or maybe there really were "two large parties of 20" being served in the back room (that the waitress later confirmed held only up to 25 people).

This is one of my favorite locations to eat in Casa Grande. They do such a great job. The hamburgers are massive. Their sweet tea is a kind reminder of Southern living. Located in the old section of downtown Casa Grande. It is well worth the try.......don't think you will be disappointed.

Best local restaurant we have found. Closed by 2:00 pm so get there for a hearty, fresh and homemade breakfast.

The place may not look like much from the outside but the food is AMAZING! We came for breakfast. My husband got the big boy, which is steak and eggs and he is quite picky. He took one bite and said "New favorite restaurant". I had the farmboy, which is country fried steak with country gravy and it was delicious. The portions are huge too. We will be back!

Not sure if I was just hungry or if the food was really that great! Stumbled upon this place accidentally, which turned out to be a wonderful experience. The staff was extremely friendly and prompt with service, and the food (I had the Big House Burger, and a friend had the Turkey Reuben, plus carrot cake for dessert), was mouth-watering! I've never had a burger taste so good and fresh before. Everything here exceeded my expectations, and will definitely make the drive from Phoenix here again!!

Big House is our absolute favorite breakfast spot in CG. We mostly order for pick up, but our last meal in was with a party of 10 and the food & service was spot-on. We are always greeted with a smile and the long wait is entirely worth it.

I love this place. Every time I come here I get a different item on the menu and it is delicious. Like home cooking. It is locally owned and operated. The people are so friendly. Definitely recommended as a top local food spot.

Dude! Best buffalo chicken sandwich I have ever had! The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. The service is excellent! It can get a little busy during lunch time and the restaurant is kind of small but they do a good job getting people seated. If you dare you can try the Babeu Border Burger, eat it all within 20 minutes I think it is, and its free, plus a t-shirt. The burgers are also very good!

What a hidden gem. The food was fantastic. The place was packed at 1:30 pm on a monday. Got really good service for being so busy. The cinnamon rolls were really good. Food came really fast. Need to explore this place more. If you are in Casa Grande, you need to stop here. Had pastrami on a pretzel bun. Outstanding.

We eat here at least once a week and we have not been disappointed once. They have a unique variety of food from breakfast to dinner. Bring your appetite because the portions are huge. There is a small wait but it's worth it! I'm still giving it five stars !!

They have breakfast at 6 AM! Awsome! I tried baked potato soup and it was great. The service quite slow but she was friendly and cute ..lol.. My tuna melt sandwith was great. I give 3 star because I didn't try the other menu yet. My friend said that the burger pretty fresh and big size. I will be back soon!

The food was delicious, but they had us waiting 40 minutes after ordering for our food to arrive. When it arrived the server explained that they just finished serving a table of 40 in the back. Why couldn't they tell me when I arrived? Give the patron the choice if we want to wait or not, they knew the wait would be that long.

We ordered at 9:00AM SHARP, and got our food at exactly 9:42AM. 42 MINUTES for pancakes and an omelet. The pancakes tasted more like cornbread and the omelet was almost without taste, the potatoes were just gross. The wait was not worth it and the food was just okay; nothing worth coming back for. The cafe was NOT very packed. The waiter was a bit rude and tried to argue that it was "normal". Sorry, but other restaurants in the area had me in and out in 30-45 minutes tops. Big House Cafe won't be getting our business anytime soon... or ever.

I have been going to the BH for awhile. I had a VERY unpleasant experience this time. I ordered the chicken salad on tomato..again the greens they lay this on were a soggy, ugly green slime. When I mentioned this to the "manager" she was defensive and said that the greens were fine. I am not an idiot, I know limp, old greens..not the first time this has happened. It was the attitude of the manager, she is family of the owner, that will keep me away. The poor wait staff couldn't have apologized more for her behavior, she and the family are loosing customers that once liked the place. Sell, and get new management before it is to late!! I won't be back, and will encourage others that I know in town not to go there.

I spend some time in Casa Grande with my in-laws and really hate to frequent the chains. So when a good friend was coming down for a quick lunch I checked some of the local restaurants online and found Big House Cafe. I noticed on the menu, quite a choice of items with green chile. Both my lunch partner and I being from New Mexico (we put green chile on everything) were somewhat skeptical of the green chile offerings. Most places outside of New Mexico that offer green chile are not good; it usually resembles green bell peppers, tasteless and heatless. I ordered the eggs, beans, and potatoes breakfast smothered in green chile sauce. The sauce was tasty, but it needs more heat for this New Mexican. I'm sure it's tough considering you could potentially kill a Snowbird with the heat generated from a chile sauce. My wife is from Minnesota, so I know all about that. Maybe offer a "hot" chile as well? Just an idea. I also ordered a Green Chile pancake. Now, I say we put chile on everything, but pancake is a new one for me. My curiosity was piqued so I had to try it. It was very good; I love the savory sweet combo and am disappointed I haven't thought of this combo on my own. I made pancakes today and added green chile and cheese. Big House chef, if you are reading, try it with cheese, you will love it. My buddy had the chicken fried chicken and eggs. The chicken fry was delicious, well-seasoned, crunchy, and impressive in size. I had just a couple bites, but I think I know what I'm going to order next time I go. Both meals were served with chunky fried potatoes, or home fries, just the way I like it. Hash browns are for IHOP, this place does it right. I later found out the owners are from Albuquerque, so this whole menu makes much more sense now. I'm from Burque myself and am glad to know these folks are representing the 505. Keep it up Big House Cafe; take chile (New Mexico style) to the masses! As Arnold once said, "I'll be back."

Sucked. We went there specifically to order the Breakfast Sandwich and were told they were out of the ingredients to make them (at 10:00am on a Saturday???). They kids menu was $4.99 and consisted of a drink and one big cold and dry pancake. It took 45 minutes for them to bring out our order. The waitress stopped by after 30 minutes and apologized. She said there was a large party in the back room that was wrapping up and they would get to our order soon...ugh. I asked her if I could change my order and she said she would go into the kitchen to see if they had started it yet...and never did. She went to the next table and hugged a group of her friends that had come in and talked to them for 10 minutes. After finally seeing I was giving her the stink eye she went into the kitchen and came back out to tell me that they had started my order (no crap lady). Everything was VERY run of the mill and we won't be back.

The service is horrible. Waited 30 minutes for anyone to even come to our table. Finally, when we did get service, the server was in such a hurry, she didn't even bother to ask us if we wanted something to drink. When our food arrived,it was cold & tasteless. Also, the window sills were thick with dead flies. Won't go there again!

Big House Cafe is a great little cafe in downtown casa grande... They have great food, especially the French toast... Those are too die for!!! Great prices. The service could use a little help with stopping by the table more or re-filling any drinks, but other than that it's great!

I love the place. the food is great. the service is about 80 percent. little slow but they make it to order. I have never seen a homeless person in there so maybe that is taken care of from the other ladys post.

I went there for lunch the other day and fell in love with their chiliquiles (with green chili), it was so delicious. We were a party of 5 and everyone at my table was happy. The waitress was so friendly and on top of her game. Price was very reasonable, I can't wait to go back :)

I have been eating here since they opened. The restuarant is now allowing homeless people in to eat. I am not a heartless person if the homeless person is clean. The past month a homeless women has been entering the restaurant to eat. She brings in her rolling cart with a bunch of trash bags then fgoes to the bathroom and comes out with wet pants or toilet paper clinging to the soars on her legs. With wet pants sits on the chairs. Her legs have big open soars on them. She also doesn't smell very good. I have ignored this for some time and even gone to the restaurant 1 to 2 hours later. She is still there. Not only does she stay there but occupies tables that seat four people. Mean time there are customers are waiting to sit. My last vist to the restaurant was two days ago. The homeless women was in there. She was wiping her open soars and placing the napkin on the table. I have watched the waiters and waitresses wipe the tables and they spray the table and wipe with the same cloth for all tables. It has just made my stomach upset. The restaurant has become so busy that the tables sit dirty while people are waiting to sit. The waitresses need help. The owners need to come into there restaurant and take a look at what is going on. Who knows maybe they don't care. I am bummed because the food was good. I guess I have to go back to the cookie jar.

A friend brought me here one day out of the blue, and I have to say, I'm really glad he did. I was skeptical at first, as there are very few good restaurants in Casa Grande that are not a part of some big chain of restaurants, but Big House Cafe can stand up there with the best of them. The caliber of food and service you receive here for a price of about $10 a plate, is something that you simply cannot get anywhere else in town. Just about all of the food is home made, and is ready just as fast as at any competing restaurant. If there is anything to complain about, it would their hours of operation. They are only open until 3 on most days, but stay open late on Fridays. If you find yourself not knowing what to eat, I would highly recommend their Reuben. It is a big sandwich, and will have you full by the time you are finished with it, but if you're feeling extra hungry than simply add an order of fries.

Try it. You'll like it! Big House Cafe is a small, hometown eatery where the locals eat. Folks know each other by first name here. The breakfasts are fantastic! Our favorite is the Old Regular, which is simply eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. The Albuquerque plate isn't on the menu, but it's sometimes offered as the daily special ($3.99). It's eggs, pinto beans, potatoes with green chile sauce and a tortilla. Join their frequent diners club (free) and get $1 off the daily special. Where can you get a great breakfast for $3.99 - $1.00 = $2.99? Oh, and I forgot to mention they have amazing fried fish on Friday and Saturday nights. Mmmmmm.

We only had coffee here after looking at the place and reading the menu. We had planned to meet another couple from out of town also at this place. After we saw it we knew it was not the ambiance we were looking for for a nice dinner. They were coming down from Phoenix and we came up from Tucson and arrived first. We ended up calling the chamber of commerce to get a different recommendation. I suggest you do the same unless you are looking for a truck-stop kind of ambiance. Also the coffee was not good.

The best breakfast joint in town. I stumbled onto this place a week ago by accident. it is a very small place maybe 12 tables at best. I went back a week later. I would recommend the breakfast special. Its 2.95 and changes whats offers each week. Last week was the breakfast tacos they looked awesome. This week was a breakfast sandwich with eggs, ham, potatoes, and cheese it was awesome. I could barely finish it. The service was awesome both times. I found out that the same people own this place as well as borderline.

I have lived in Casa Grande for 11 years and last night was the first time I have ever been to this restaurant. Being that I am also a chef here in Casa Grande, I had heard from other chef's regarding Chef Mike and his cuisine. I decided to try the Cafe and meet Chef Mike. I have to tell you that the portions are incredible! I don't know how he makes money with such large portions and his reasonable costs. My wife and I ordered the fish and chips. We got 2 HUGE fried talapia filets, garlic bread, coleslaw, and seasoned fries. Then, the servers were all too happy to bring more. I asked to meet Chef Mike and he gladly came out and chatted with us. We found Chef Mike to be a very personable and friendly guy. I gave his establishment 4 stars because I haven't tried anything but the fish and chips which I give a strong 5 stars. My wife and I will be back for sure, you can count on it! - Chef Paul Thomas, A Taste in Thyme Personal Chef and Catering Service

We enjoy breakfast or lunch here every Sunday. Have not had anything we didn't like. Service is friendly but can be a little slow if very busy, but well worth waiting for. The homemade bakery items are delightful. My favorite is their breakfast burrito for 3.99 (that is menu price, not special). I always take half home.

Stopped by for lunch with my family for the first time. Very quaint cafe with sincere and genuinely friendly staff.

Love this place. Food is very good with very generous portions. Their biscuits and gravy are the best in town. You usually have a little wait to get a table but it is worth it. The wait staff is very friendly. My boyfriend loves their breakfast burritos.

The place may not look like much from the outside but the food is AMAZING! We came for breakfast. My husband got the big boy, which is steak and eggs and he is quite picky.

They have breakfast at 6 AM! Awsome! I tried baked potato soup and it was great. The service quite slow but she was friendly and cute ..lol.. My tuna melt sandwith was great.

"Just tried to have breakfast. Snippy waitress greeted us. Should have been first clue. When we were finally seated, we sat for about 20 minutes watching as those who arrived after us were offered drinks and we were not even acknowledged. Never going back."
